i went to fry's yesterday and they had it on display along with the acer aspire one and the hp netbook. it was nice to see it alongside other netbooks and it really looks cool and super light and portable.

although i was comfortable using the device at the high resolution i began to wonder how long i can stand using the device at that resolution. after using it for a bit i looked at the aspire one and my eyes were so happy with 1024x600.

The black design looks great

Why has Sony marketed it to the female sector though?
Oh, and would definately get rid of Windows Blista in favour of XP or Vista 7 (assuming it lives up to the current hype)

What do you think about Vaio P have a Atom "Z***"?

This way , Vaio P is a MID?

Is Atom N*** more powerfull than Z***?

Anonymous said...

Is this thing more powerfull than Raon's Everun Note?

The Raon Everun Note is MUCH more powerful than even the high end version of the P.

No touchscreen? That's odd and bad, I thought it has.

Anonymous said...

Haustorio, yes - Atom N*** is more powerful.

The main difference (when talking about the performance) is actually the GPU; you all know that Atom N*** has a bad, old GPU, but with Atom Z*** this gets even worst!
(well, this is because Atom Z*** is meant for MIDs)

Not a bad little machine. I think the screen is awesome, perhaps a bit overkill as you said. Glad to hear that the quality is there, but then it should considering you are buying Sony and paying out quite a bit for it.

I think the biggest hit is that Vista is just a bit too resource intensive for that machine. Is it 1GB or 2GB of RAM? If it's only 1GB, that would be the first upgrade. What about the HDD? SSD or conventional and what are the write speeds?

Nice video. Please post another Vaio P video about upgrading this to Windows 7 Beta and your opinion on the result...

The Everun Note is more powerful and more compact, BUT it also: runs hotter, has a lower resolution screen and can't be touch typed on.
There is no "ideal" computer out there yet, but the P has the best keyboard and screen resolution for a machine in its size/hardware class right now. Think Fujitsu U810/U820 and the Everun Note. I compared them all and went with the P as it fit my needs best.

Great video, I was only able to catch part of the live demo. I wish I could have watched more. Hope to see more demos and your overall opinion on the 1.86Ghz Vaio P90. I'm really hoping to order this from Conics but not sure if the extra .6Ghz over the standard US version makes a difference in the end.

Yes, please let us know how XP performs and whether any additional drivers are required etc.

I have no interest in joining the Windows 7 bandwagon, as I'm a recent Mac convert. But when it comes to mobile computing, I need XP for some legacy software and abandonware that is highly unlikely to be supported by W7.

Also, let us know if WWAN can be unlocked without having to replace the hardware.

Thanks and look forward to the testing!

nice liveshow jkk, hope to see that device with a ssd and xp on it ;-) then i think it runs fast cause vista (which i dont like at all) is a overkill on such a device, i think.

Well I think the selling point of this thing is the 1.89Ghz. And vaio/sony users knows already that sony builds great hardware (in computers & DAP/PMP excluding the gaming consoles)

offtopic.
Since I can't get a answer from memoryc.com can I add a SSD (PCI-e) on my Everun Note?
If yes, which one? (I assume the Dell Mini9 one 50mm)

Anonymous said...

Anon, you cant use pcie ssds on everun... they work only on some eees and dell mini

jkk

next batch of runcore SSD 1.8" ZIF will work on Everun (and vaio P).
they should be shipping around the end of Feb.

Haha, I see you already have the Vaio P in pieces (and soon back together again of course) judging by the newest video on your youtube channel. While this device isn't my cup of tea, it'll be interesting what you can do with it...

I was astonished how light this thing is, when I first lifted it up. I also liked the display very much. I guess, you have to get used to the resolutions first because it's so small.
Anyway, have fun with the Vaio P! :)

Saludos desde Chile (Chili), muy buen blog es este, adios ...

Thank for this excellent review, especially in comparison to the other netbooks.

Hi,

Does anybody have any idea if you could install for example Ubuntu on VAIO P?

Hi,
Great video. Watched it several months later. I want one of the new 2.0GHz ones. I can't find any Series P where I live, so I have no idea how large one really is. So, I have some questions:

1. Would it fit in a coat pocket? Looks too big to fit in a shirt pocket like my dying PDA :-(

2. Since you've had it for some time now, do you think it is worth the premium price?

3. SSD does wear out. Which is better HD or SSD in your opinion?

Thanks,
Tony
