Just rooted my UK Milestone.
Worked as per your video. Thanks

Google have really stuffed up by not having the pay system in place. I too only get "free" option despite wanting to buy some great apps

Dude. that's lame, why not just get an N900 and type root? at least that's a proper Linux OS!

V, capacitive touch, google stuff and apps.
.. thinner design
.. better ui for multitasking
.. better notifications
..

N900 .. I considered it but then came to the conclusion that it would be fairly niche. Maemo is not maintstream enough. I don't like the Ovi store either

Android has a stronger future and should be getting better thanks to all the Android-based phones coming out

There are some really great Android apps available. Examples, "Shazam", "Goggles", "PicSay", "ShopSavvy", as well as the Google services

Incidentally, I can now purchase apps. Thanks JKK !!

hi! thanks for the informations!
i successfully rooted my android, and i installed droidwall in order to block some dumb apps like the weather widget or the corporate calendar, which are using my internet connection without my permission. So, i tried to block them with the application, and when i had to press the "apply rules" button, it says error applying iptables rules. exit code:127 iptables: not found
what should i do? i allowed the application via Superuser whitelist, but it still doesnt work
thanks a lot!

Will this work with 2.0.1 ?

JKK said...

yes, it works with 2.01

Does not work if you already have 2.0.1. How do you root milestone if your have updated to 2.0.1

Hey JKK, you the man! Dude your vids keep gettin better and your setup looks even pimper!

Anyway, your gonna get a lot of attention because Canada just got the Milestone through Telus.

What everyone who comes here will be wondering is - If the device comes with 2.0.1 on it, will your step by step procedure work?

Is there any risk or chance of bricking the phone? Thanks very much!

Appreciative, yet from a less technologically advanced part of the world....

Happy New Year!

Hello!

Check this, the and-developers wiki has posted the link to the motorola milestone android 2.1 sbf file for europe! I can not test it on my device because I'm from Brazil and it is not compatible with my radio configs, but would be nice if test it as you are from europe!

Here is the link:
http://and-developers.com/motorola_milestone:sbf

The sbf is a link directly from motorola, as I know you can update the rom usind RSDlite (there is a link there too for this software)

Thanks and nice blog, I really like it!!!

please let us know if it works. can u also tell me which file i need to download...in ur link there are 3 different files...mirror 1, 2, 3. which one is it? the reason i want to root is to be able to move apps2sd cause the space provided is a joke! can u provide details on how to use apps2sd and where to get the proper file to download?
will be much appreciated, thanks

I used SHOLS_U2_02.31.0 , works for me in Sweden.

All my apps are installed on sd card.

Use an uninstaller to remove the junk apps that are unnecessary.

I also use a appkiller to save battery.

Use Android Market for discovering and testing the good apps.

I'm really happy with this phone, but hope to soon test the 2.2 update as soon as it becomes available.

Good luck /Anders

Hi I'm about to get my milestone. From the day one of it's release I'm addicted to it and just making my dream come true. I have few queries
1. I heard it doesn't have flash player (does that mean that I can't watch youtube videos)
2. Is there any way i can install a divX player

And I am from Kerala, India. Thanks in advance
