Nice! What battery does it have?

Anonymous said...

Dang, I just bought a 901. It's perfect except for the storage issue. If this thing has a 6-cell battery I'm going to regret pulling the trigger.

Anonymous said...

Oh, it's a 4-cell. Probably wouldn't go for it (or I'd have to upgrade the battery).

Hi there,
Does anyone knows if it has a 52,000mAh or a 48,000mAh battery?
Does it still have the casing from the great original eee pc 900?
If so, those are fantastic news and a huge progress to Asus I shall say.

Anonymous said...

whats the guesstimated battery life?

could i get an extended battery?

Anonymous said...

why do i feel like such a chump for buying a eee pc 900 for 450 a month ago? -_-

Anonymous said...

this is pretty much exactly what alot of us have been waiting for, the 900 body, Atom, HDD. the 900a is close but was stuck with those slow SSD's.

did you ever get the touchpad, hybrid engine, issues worked out?

what kind of battery life are you averaging on your 900a? i wonder how much less it would be with a HDD. i am assuming this is a 2.5".

WOW this is cheap at $350, i think Aspire One just got trumped in terms of value.

Anonymous said...

Ugg, glossy lid again!
Hmm, I guess that's one quick & dirty way to avoid slow ssd speeds, maybe this time they'll get all the drivers right.

I saw the new graphic @ the bottom of the side-bar here on your site and was curious.

The Grow VC video debut didn't explain much.

So Valto Loikkanen is a friend of you and Chippy? Sorry but what does this ["grow supporter" pic] have to do with your blog? Are you investing in making your own netbook company or somethin? :D

Anonymous said...

I think its only a .3 megapixel cam, but still fine for me.

What about the battery fitment? Does it have a unique connector like the other 900a model?

Anonymous said...

Great!
SATA connector?
Have any idea of other new model´s (i.e. 1002)?
Thanks!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Will they give the 901 series hard drive options as well? Or I guess they will keep that with SSDs to differentiate with the 900. I prefer HDDs right now.

all comments pls.. dell mini 9 is asembled also in penang, malaysia but it seems like dell is dragging its feet in launching it here so i'll hv to wait. meanwhile i'm considering asus 900H (atom, 1gb/ram, 30gb/hdd, os/xp @ USD349) which is the latest model launched here. my issues: #1= is asus reliable in terms of hardware quality & durability for heavy use up to 10 hrs daily on wifi.? #2= what are some of common hardware repair problems associated with asus 900 series.? #3= should i wait for another model of asus or for dell mini9,,? appreciate all comments on users experience..

[...] 900HA entspricht mehr oder weniger dem Eee PC 900A, jedoch statt der lahmen SSD ist eine 160 GB Harddisk verbaut und der 900HA wird mit Windows XP [...]

Anonymous said...

If they just made it a 10" screen, and fit the speakers on each side of the screen. It would be close to perfect.

Anonymous said...

very funny anon.

Anyway. Yet another model O_o I had my eyes on 900A for a while now, but im not sure now. This should be faster but perhaps more noisy and slightly less battery life than 900A which had around 3.5-4 hours.

Anonymous said...

My ideal would still be a "900B" - a 900A case containing the 901's spec (particularly N Wifi and hi-res webcam) but a faster SLC SSD.

Remnant 888 said...

anon
why a "900B," and not 901..? whats diff. betw. 900 and 901 casing..?

Anonymous said...

Love the 900 case myself, but glossy laptops can eat a .. banana. Period. I'll never buy one. They are making this product for some market I am not a part of.

Anonymous said...

don't... al the 900 have battery drain problems... F****** Asus... trying to sell the rest of MB faulty...

JKK said...

Atom based 900 doesnt have battery drain problems...

Remnant 888 said...

jkk
is this one w/HDD faster than 901 (w/SSD)in read write speed..?
in yr own personal opinion, which of the three is best.? epc 900 w/hdd, epc 901 w/12gb ssd and dell mini9 w/ 16sdd, all loaded in XP..
thank u very much

Anonymous said...

now i'm thinking of getting the 900HA in addition to my hp 2133, presario v6310 and asus s6f ^^

Remnant 888 said...

jkk
has yr asus given you any hardware problems that need repairs..?

Remnant 888 said...

tim
what's the greatest attraction/points that prompt you into getting this epc 900ha..?

Anonymous said...

question is: is 900HA for US market only (like 900A seems to be EU only)?

Anonymous said...

We need an EEEPC 901H GO with touchscreen

Dynamo

afxnet.net said...

this looks like a good item to have if upgrading from a 701, like myself.

Anonymous said...

would like a touchsceeen on it ,must add it myself then!

Anonymous said...

Anyone knows when the 900HA will be available? It would be the perfect netbook for me

Anonymous said...

Remnant 613,why do you ask all these questions ?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if the 900 serise extended batteries (eg Mugen) would work with this

Anonymous said...

I cant believe how fast the prices are dropping, i bought a 901 w/ linux for $580 a month ago!!!!

Anonymous said...

i dont like netbooks with hd´s i like my slc ssd 16 gb in my 900. after changed motherboard and battery no battery drain left. now i get a touchscreen and internal bluetooth and its perfext for me. but nice device over all the 900HA ;-)

Anonymous said...

I dont understand how the weight can be kept down to 990gram with a 160gig harddrive?
weight was at 990gram with light SSD?

Anonymous said...

very nice device, even better price

no 802.11n and bluetooth... dealbreaker

Anonymous said...

I concur,
Great price, but the lack of bluetooth might be a deal breaker for me. 802.11n can be added by replacing the wifi card but bluetooth... we'll have to wait for JKK to open it up and see whether there's an internal USB port or something than can take a usb dongle.

Anonymous said...

JKK, find us a solution for the battery and this Eee 900HA will rock !

Anonymous said...

Ooooh this is SO frustrating! I just bought the Eee PC 900 (with SLOW SSD) a couple weeks ago and now this comes out! Man what a downfall!!!

Anonymous said...

Remnant 613, I had the original 900 previously, and really liked the design. I know that may sound silly, but I just like it =)

Anonymous said...

OK - EeePC 904HA with 6 cell battery (only if with Jkk touch mod and if Asus copies HP 2133 keyboard)this is
OK - only need Flash Drive and for storage use a Dual Raid 1 USB Powered SATA drive enclosure from Addonics (model - AE25RDESU ) for most stuff don't need to carry large drives around (larger amounts of data?)!
see:

Does anyone knows if it´s possible to adapt the top cover lid from the eee pc900 to the glossy one on the eee pc900HA? Are they a match on seize? Love the specs. on the 900HA and evertyhing else, actualy consider being the best one out there, within their range so far, apart from the glossy shiny color that it has. If we can adapt, I´ll purchase the cover, and do it myself. JKK, is it a green light on it, or not?

Remnant 888 said...

looks like most ppl prefer hdd over ssd these days.. acer aspire, lenovo s10, wind storm are now also selling theirs w/ hdd..

i did read somewhere that hdd w/ 5400 rpm and above actually register better read/write speed..

Remnant 888 said...

anon
reason why i asked all those questions is bcos' i'm abt to purchase my 1st netbook. that's why i ask abt asus epc 900 and 901 reliability.
i don't need a netbook that's always crashing most of the time and always need technical tweaking and repair.
comments anyone,,?

Anonymous said...

Wonder how thick the case will be compare to 900A?

Anonymous said...

this is gonna be tough...900ha or 904ha...i'm selling my 900 20g and like the looks of it so i prefer the 900ha but i want the battery from the 904ha! evil!!!!

Anonymous said...

Yes!!! It done! 1000 in 900 case! Yuhooo! Im very Happy!

240GB 1.8" HDD!!!
Toshiba introduced new, larger 1.8" hard disks last week, both of which could find use in PMPs, UMPCs, and camcorders. The two new drives are 120GB and 240GB (single-platter and dual-platter, respectively), spin at 4200rpm, and measure 2.12"x2.79"x0.31." The smaller, 120GB drive weighs in at just 48g, while the 240GB drive is 58g; pricing has yet to be announced.

Anonymous said...

But why?

You can fit in a 500GB 2.5" HDD.

Anonymous said...

Personally I don't think they will use 120GB 1.8" HD. Because the 900HA is considerablly cheaper compare to its cousins not to mention 1.8" HD are more expensive than commonly used and cheap 2.5" HD. Wonder if they reworked the motherboard.

Anonymous said...

Wellwell.. I was about to buy a EEE 901 yesterday. Luckally I din't ^^. Any1 knows when this will be out in the market?

Anonymous said...

Thing is a 240GB 1.8" HD will cost close to one pre-figured EEE.

Now that's Something!

Hi guys. I currently own a 1000h and a 900ha, and I have to honestly say that the 900ha is what did it for me. The 1000 is comfy, but for an extra inch and maybe $100 more, I could get an optical in a Powerbook g4 12". The 900ha stays true to what netbooks should have been all along. It's small, light, has a great little processor and topples the others in this size with its multi-touch and 160gb hdd. By the way, I can get about 4.5-5 hours with general use, and it does feature the 1.3 megapixel cam.

buy the 1000h now on Newegg for 429$ also guys.

Anonymous said...

I too would be very curious to know if you can swap the lid for one from a standard 900 for that nice matte look. Any physical incompatibilities? Instructions would be cool too, though I could probably work it out

Anonymous said...

just got the 900ha, gets a little warm but i

Why no bluetooth?

Anonymous said...

Got my 900ha today. Its WAY more bulky than pictured. The advertisement pictures are clearly photoshopped. This 900ha is THICK. The back where the battery goes it REALLY thick. 1.5" Anyway it pretty good for the $280 I paid for it. Its very quiet. NOTE!!! The camera is still .3mp and not 1.3mp. The screen is excellent! Very nice contrast and zero light bleeding.

Anonymous said...

update, sorry not $439.00 but $349.00 at new egg.com

Anonymous said...

Can the 900HA run OSX? I have the 1000H, but am wondering if I might prefer a smaller size (with a keyboard trade-off, of course).

Anonymous said...

Wow...in comparison to the size of the 1000H, the 900HA is the same width, less depth (20mm), and the same thickness. Of course its .990kg vs. 1.45kg. Is the keyboard the same as the 1000H? Seems like it must be about the same???

Anonymous said...

Can someone provide the information on the built-in wireless? What is it specifically called in device manager, and what driver is it using?

Anonymous said...

Atheros AR5007EG Wireless card.
Webcam is 0.3MP.
Hard drive (SATA) gets 60MB/s read and write max.
Battery is 5200mAh.

Any other questions?

Fan generally stays at around 30% and is not audible over the slight whisper of the hard drive.

With live.com cashback, I got 25% off. Final price was $271.25 shipped. Talk about value!

Few things that suck:

1) Battery is loose (can be fixed easily)
2) Keyboard is rattly (can be fixed easily)
3) If you are coming from an SSD Eee, you will miss the total silence (can be fixed with a costly and slow SATA SSD).
4) Touchpad drivers really suck (no easy fix).
5) Hard drive is partitioned 4x. One is empty. The two that are hidden contain a backup image and Boot Booster (easy fix, only delete the second empty partition).
6) I didn't buy it sooner (hard to fix, until they invent the time machine, Great Scott! 1.21GW!!).

this is by far the best netbook

Martin Reinanto said...

This netbook is not only ultra portable but also very efficent on using energy. Up to 5 hours of battery span life on the Power Saving Mode. Found on http://www.uttamah.com/2009/asus-eee-pc-900ha-89-inch-netbook-review/

Can you comment on Windows XP vs Linux? Will Linux be faster? Will Linux work with my networking software - Network Magic?

The demo shows it works well on YouTube but what about watching news programs like CNN Live? Hulu? Comedy Central? etc.

When you will review it???

Reply to 4th comment:-
Wrong battery numbers instead 52,000mAh or 48,000 mAh of they are 5,200 mAh or 4,400 mAh

Does it have the same battery connector as the 900A

Shinee said...

It 'the same price as the Acer, but a little' smaller, has a 160GB g instead of 120 grams and 4 cell batteries instead of 3 cells with 5 hours instead of 3 hours of battery life (tested). Other features that other brands have a matte, not shiny, visualization tools, system recovery, and a box. Wireless connectivity is robust and transparent. I upgraded to IE 7 and found that navigation is particularly useful on this platform.
