Battery life is goood.. looks like easy 5 hours on my use.

Eee 901 has the best battery life compared to other netbooks as others like Acer, MSI and Medion are shipping now with smaller 3 cell batteries...

I still like the looks of Eee PC 900 more...

Testing and hacking has now started so more soon..

I've had a black 901 for a week. The battery life is awesome. The keyboard is still the same old.

Could it might be true that there is a free Slot in the Eee PC 901 for HSDPA/UMTS!!
I 've read this in a other block, but nobody else says something about this!!
Could somebody check this out for me, who has already an Eee PC 901???

Anyone know when the 901 will be available in the UK ? the release date was suopposed to be 1st july but havent seen the 901 anywhere. [confused]

Does it have the underclock/overclock functionality?

Anonymous said...

IMHO it's a big advance what 901 have a big battery by default which is shaped in the netbook body so good compared to others.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it has the Superhybrid Engine which allows for over/under clocking.

Anonymous said...

hmmm now could the board from that fit in the 900 case :)

Razor: Well, amazon.co.uk currently has the 901 for £306.81 with 8-11 days dispatch - for what that's worth!

JKK: Looking forward to a comparative review (900 vs 901) on your YouTube channel... :-)

JKK,

I have been following your work very closely for the last 4-5 months and I think you are doing a fantastic job. I have decided to purchase a 901 just because i know you are modding it and i can get help from you. I am new to modding laptops and look forward to adding a 3G card to make the laptop truly mobile. I am eagerly awaiting your videos on modding the 901.

Thanks and best wishes.

What do you mean by 5 hrs battery life? It has a bigger battery than the Wind, etc? And are you using WiFi? What screen brightness? Details, man! Vacation is no excuse! You have an EeePC with you!

Anonymous said...

Mike:
the eee pc 901 has 5 hours of battery life cause it has a 6 cell while the wind currently only has a 3 cell (hopefully the 6 cell version will come by December at this rate...)

In fact can you put the PCB of 901 to 900 so that the EEE can have both better looking and better performance =]

Hi

Like you I prefer the 900, continue your very good work but for the moment have nice holidays in Italy ;-)

HI JKK,

you should have some experience of the LCD Screen of the EEE PC 900/901. What kind of backlight is integrated (CCFL or LED)? Is it possible to mod it to get more brightness (brighter CCFLs or LEDs)? Thanks for your kind answer and sharing your experiences with us. ;-)

Hi JKK.
Enjoy your holidays! ( while I'm desperately waiting for your next review )
Best wishes.

jkk, are you changing your mind now that you have used 901's atom processor? before you said 900 was better...

Anonymous said...

JKK: Are you planning to put your 901's board into your 900 case - and create the world's first 903?...

Anonymous said...

jkk, any news of touch screen and 3G card for eeepc 901??

Anonymous said...

why would you post something like this now i am checking your blog at least 6 times a day stop teasing people p.s. keep up the good work :)

Mike Cane said...

I didn't know the 901 came with the full 6-cell battery. Wow. No wonder the Wind doesn't have it. Asus probably got the first run.

wtf bro, where's the report?

JKK said...

Sorry for the delays!

Well I still confuse which eee pc I'm gonna buy.. 900 or 901. Can't wait to see your reviews comparing both models !

I ordered a eee pc 901 from Amazon in the US and it did not have the touchpad (touch pad trackpad track pad) drivers loaded. This caused a very annoying delay or lag from when my finger touched the pad to when the cursor started moving. The solution was to use the driver on the CD that came with the computer.

and where exactly can anyone get hold of the 901 in the UK? absolutely nowhere sells it here.

jkk: where did you get yours from?

currently using norton ghost 2003 + external nexstar usb hd enclosure and clone entire 120gb hd.

in the event of catastrophic failure i pop out old hd from my $500 dell b130 running xp and pop the backup in... up and running in 5 min.

cloning/backup process takes all night.

DELL b130 is too big...
overheats...
and has worst batttery life on planet..

i want smaller cheaper, faster better...

asus eee 901 looks fabulous

1. what is best backup process?

a. linux with 20gb flash drive?
b. linux with 20gb hd drive? (is that an option?)
c. xp 20gb flash drive?
d. xp 20gb hd drive? (option?)

5 hour battery life w/flash drive is nice
but overkill for my.

3 hours with 3.5 200gb HD drive would be
find since power in limo.

how hard is it to swap drives? (sorry for ignorance here, not sure 3.5 in hd in option) sure like the space for lots of mps and movies.

could mount asus on ceiling of limo and connect externam monitor cable run throug ceiling to back where siseable flat panel fold down from ceiling ...

i watched jkk's stellar youtube vid on installing touch screen but couldn't see a 3.5 in hd drive slot.. not an option? just flash drives?

thanks in advance,

robert

PS..

I am really jazzed about getting one w/touch
screen and just being able to hand a passenger a asus if they need to use one while in the back of my limo...
