Hands-on with MultiTouch Cell

It's a bit big for my mobile needs, but as touch screens and multi touch are really nice features, I had to check this out..

Finnish company, Multitouch Oy, has just released their multitouch screen, called MultiTouch Cell. And they are available now.

It was really fun to use! I was specially amazed how bright it was compared to other systems under full daylight..

Jump to Multitouch Oy for specs and features.

Eye candy bullshit !

impressive. but did you check to see if they have some kind of stand so that the display can be angled like say a drawing table?

if they have that, then a 30-something size screen can really be used as a kind of "desktop" for all kinds of visual work imo...

It would be quite easy to add feets to it or install it to a table..

I bet that was fun!
Was that the company that did the huge multitouch screen for T-Mobile at CeBIT?

This looks like it would be great for a TV station.

Jkk is fall in love with this guy.

Or he wants to kill him to steal the screen.

I think he had an orgasm to see this.

Do we need a very powerful computer to move that?

A 600 $ Pc can?, ummm

@turnselfoff: yes we have mounting solutions for just about anything
@chippy: yes we were
@haustorio: not really, the system can run from either a fairly standard linux box or a single dsplay from a MacBook Pro

@john: maybe it should be demoed used that way at some point then, as people may see part the "gorilla arm" issue of a vertical screen...

@ turnselfoff we will have more demos and videos over the coming weeks.

if each one of the LCDs needs a video input.. how would a computer manage 6 or 8 of these blocks? quad video cards?

Please can you confirm the prices JKK? The sound was a bit unclear - was it $8,000 or $80,000??

JKK said...

about $7000 for smaller screen ( 36 inch ) to $18000 for 46 inch with the computer

You have to ask then for real pricing... there was many options etc..

At Home? for what? to keep all the time to stand up from the sofa to go to the TV? it's a nightmare... lol.
Ok have the TV as table... ok... I admit it will be fun...

A nice, big touchscreen: a fine toy, but IMHO no need to get all excited about it.

Nice stuff, but quiet pricey, but I think this is not for long(maybe not for years).
