The iPad And Chrome OS Netbooks Are On A Collision Course

Archos 7 -
Dell Mini 5 -
iPad – Summary podcast.

8.9″ ExoPC slate. “Atom N270 at 1.6GHz, with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 32GB SSD with SD expansion. Yeah, those specs are familiar too, and while we’re not thinking this will deliver the sort of snappy performance seen on the iPad, it will certainly be a lot more functional. Battery life is only four hours, but at least it’s user-replaceable, and a price of $599 matches the 32GB iPad. Likewise it will be available in March -”
NetbookNavigator – ‘Nav 9′ Similar specs.
EviGroup Pad

UMID BZ Live session – (First impressions notes) No major showstoppers. Memory 512MB. No 3G version. No right shift key, optical mouse not the best (but way better than nothing) great battery life. $549 good price. N5 March/April.

N900 Firefox/weave release . Plugin, Small screen optimised. Firefox quality. Fast javascript processing. Add-ons. (weave!) but no FLash!

Mozilla pulled it from N900 Firefox release – ““Support for plugins in Firefox for Maemo has been disabled. On most Web pages that use the Adobe Flash plugin, the performance of the plugin didn’t meet our standards, and the interactivity and performance of the entire Web page was negatively impacted.”

Flash. Will it last? Do we need it?
HTML5: Timescale.
Lower power web devices coming.
Developers should take note of rising % of non-flash mobile brwosers.

S10 blade coming.

Events coming up:
DevMob2010. London. One day. Intel. 3rd Feb
MWC. Mobile phones meets mobile computing on 14th Feb.

Nice Podcast. iPad sucks IMO. Just a fancy face.

I'm wondering about this ExoPC tablet. I looked at the website and you can apparently order a prototype. Do you have any insight into whether a prototype to could be upgraded (through software) to allow the multitouch over time? According to the website this is the only difference from the released version other than battery life. (and I assume driver and software upgrades)

At only a few mm thicker than the Archos 9, it would kick it's rear I would think. So much more power at the same price.

Can you start a page for this product in your list for info/comments?

Netbook Navigator is powerful, but a little ugly, and WAY overpriced.

Oh, and let's hear some of these secrets.

According to http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/

it says: "Flash 9.4 support"

..What do you mean no flash then? Is this website newer than your podcast or were you guys mistaken..
