Samsung back on the UMPC track: Slate tablet coming soon

Yep, we have been waiting Samsung to release new ultramobile and it looks we will see something close soon...

" Emmanuele Silanesu, national product and marketing manager for Samsung Australia’s IT division, told APC that Samsung would release its slate “in the second half of the year” and the device would have a clear focus on the consumer market "

" A senior Samsung executive has confirmed that the company will release a ‘slate’ PC in the second half of this year.

While remaining coy on the platform the slate would use, the director of Samsung Australia’s IT division, Philip Newton, told APC that PC-grade processing power and connectivity would be cornerstones of the device. "

..so slate tablet PC it is. Now lets hope some mobility on it too.

doggone Apple and their stupid "modern" styling.

First it was smartphones with minimal hardware buttons... everyone started drinking their coolaid and jumping off the cliff. I like the good old days of four buttons on front, a d-pad, and one or two rocker switches on the side.

Next it is going to be tablets so large that they never go anywhere except from the coffee table to your lap and back.

From the article on APC I'd take that Samsung already put more thought into the form follows function part than Apple did with the iPd given that Samsung's representatives already state what you could use the device for instead of what "magic" the device can do.
