"Micro-Star International (MSI) is already planning a smaller, thinner version of its popular Wind mini-laptop aimed at business people, an official from the company said Thursday."

"MSI is also working on a concept for a device smaller than a mini-laptop to attract people who want to surf the Internet wirelessly on a device that's easy to carry around, said Tung. Right now, the company is considering a device with a screen smaller than 7 inches and a keypad that slides out from below for typing."

Eee PC 901 internals hint future upgrades and options

Asus is clearly not telling everything yet..

First the bad news; it looks like the SSD is still 2 separate drives as there are only 4 flash modules/ side on the psi-e card.. 2 x 8 = 16 so to make 20GBs there needs to be 4GB separate SSD.. above screenshot proofs it.

Then the good ones; There is a place for the SIM card and extra PCI-E slot.. 3G HSDPA option!

and if you look at the shape and the size of that hole.. and the zif connector near it, you can see it's for 1.8 inch drive.

Big HDD or super fast SSD anyone?!

So expect wwan and bigger drive options/upgrades in near future...

Follow up on new AMD UMPC at Computex

Steve and I have been looking this baby a bit deeper..

Click to see the video and more info

So far we have these specs up:

7 inch 1024 x 600 touch screen
AMD Turion64X2 with 1GB RAM
60/80GB HDD
optical mouse pointer and buttons
2 x USB and one mini USB
audio in/out
VGA out
2.5 hour battery life while playing videos
about 200mm x 120mm x 25mm

Going into small details, it looks like Raon Digitals new device as:
- Raon is known their AMD based UMPCs
- It has the same optical mouse as in Raon Digital Everun ( which is pretty good to use )
- It has same short cut buttons as Raon Digital Everun
- It has same ExpWin icon as Raon Digital Everun

It is small... Me wants!

If I hear SSD and HSDPA options like on Everun, I will fly to Korea immediately!

As always, we will follow it until we get all the info.. and devices home.

Asus Eee PC 1000 pictures up

Looking same as 901 but there are big differences..

This is not a mobile computer like Eee 700/900 series are.

It's much bigger, it weights 1.5 kilos and has spinning HDD..

Keyboard seems to be much bigger so this one might be good for those who didn't like the original one..

price:

Eee PC 1000(H)with XP and 80GB HDD: NT$18,988 or about $625

Eee PC 1000 with Linux and 40GB SSD: NT$19,988 or about $658

UPDATE: it seems to have the same keyboard as Asus U2E which is 277 mm wide..

UPDATE: pictured with Eee PC 901

Asus Eee PC 901 battery life "secret" revealed

Not 7 hours, but the official battery life figures are out now..

4.2 to 6 hours...

..and as the battery is heavier 6600mAh 6 cell this is easy to believe.

Only downside is that Eee PC 901 will weight 1140g, where 900 weights 990g

As the battery design has changed, 901 batteries are not compatible with 701 or 900. Which meas that you can't use cheap 3rd party batteries for 701/900 on 901 either..

With 3rd party 8700mAh batteries 901 could run full working day..
