Asus Eee PC 901 battery life "secret" revealed

Not 7 hours, but the official battery life figures are out now..

4.2 to 6 hours...

..and as the battery is heavier 6600mAh 6 cell this is easy to believe.

Only downside is that Eee PC 901 will weight 1140g, where 900 weights 990g

As the battery design has changed, 901 batteries are not compatible with 701 or 900. Which meas that you can't use cheap 3rd party batteries for 701/900 on 901 either..

With 3rd party 8700mAh batteries 901 could run full working day..

MSI will run about the same as Eee 901..

7 hours is just marketing ..

MSI has same size 6 cell battery as on 901.

MSI Wind: 11.1V, 4400mAh = 48Wh
Asus Eee C 901: 7.4V, 6600mAH = 48Wh

AHA! I had wondered if the 901 would obsolete the past batteries -- and it does!

I never considered that they would also boost the amount of power they store.

Win one, lose one.

Hey it looks good. That's a very good battery life as standard. Pity about the battery non-compatibility with older models. Can't wait to see/hear more.

Is the weight quoted with the 4 or the 6 cell battery???

Can anyone confirm?

according to the product sheet they put up on engadget, there is no 4 cell battery. They axed it and now there's just 6 cell. Seems to solve a lot of the problems they've been having as of late.

http://www.lithium-batteries.net/laptop/asus/eee-pc-battery.html this battery can use the 901 ?

Not really true. Some minor fixes increases the battery life to 7h with wifi on (eeepc 901 (6600 mAh) running eeebuntu). One thing trick is to install Eee Control and select powersave mode. I currently have 8h 20min when the wifi is disabled. Using 'cat /proc/ acpi/battery/BAT0/state' shows 750 mA in idle and wifi disabled and 950 mA using it normally with wifi on. The battery will then theoretically provide slightly less than 7h which is approx what I get when I use it.

Hey guys!
i just started blogging not that long ago and running across this blog it seemed a bit too interesting to only read the first paragraph. I kinda got confused in the middle of it but the end just made it all go together like a puzzle. Please, who ever wrote this, keep me updated!
