Touchscreen Eee PC finally coming

Fingers crossed.. multiple fingers..

DigiTimes is reporting that "Asustek Computer is planning to launch touch panel Eee PCs in the first quarter of 2009"

"The company has not yet decided details of the models which will be updated but will reach a decision based on market demand. The company expects to showcase the products during CES 2009, Hu noted."

This is not the first time we are getting this info, but hopefully this time it will be true... last time they were talking about GPS integration too.

I'm also getting rumors about the touchscreeen being a multi touch screen, which seems to be inline with AUO's news about their 8 inch multi touch screens. ( Asus uses AUO's panels )

Let's see what happens.. I'm hoping for a very mobile version with good battery life..

UPDATE: it is confirmed!

Thanks GottaBeMobile

That is truly awesome. Perhaps it will appear on www.asusparts.eu as a possible home-upgrade??? Hopefully without too much effort, too.

That will have to be buy for me. ASAP

I know AUO makes the 7" screen for the EEE series, but they don't list any 8.9" screens on their website, so are you sure they make those as well?

I've been waiting for a light (<1000g) laptop with internal 3G, touchscreen and ssd to show up. I really hope that device like that will come soon. Now Asus seems to be going at least to the right direction.

Hi!!!

I see your video installing a touch screen in a asus 901, my question is...¿Does it take so much battery life?

Thanks!

@RedsGT Yes. 901 have AUO 8.9"

ASUS needs an 8.9" model, much like the M912, but in the footprint of a 901. And hopefully not so plain looking on the inside of the 'clam'.

off topic I take that jkk you are not planning to cover the S101 eee which I understand since the price doesn't mean its much of a netbook but I love this site and would really like to see what modding you can do to it since its still an eee

Cant see any point of a touchscreen netbook unless it has a swivel screen

Well check jkkmobile's YouTube video where he surfs the web laying on his sofa with the modded 900. Then you understand :)
