Ui thats cool, but who needs a dvd in a netbook? ;-) whats the weight of it?

I must admit, thats the only downside I can find to my NC10, having to carry around a external dvd if i think i'll need one where i'm going. That said it would depend on the trade off between size/weight and the amount of use i'd need. If it retained pretty much the same size and weight compared to my NC10 i'd be happy

I have been waiting a while but it looks like the perfect netbook for me is me around the corner
ssd
dvd
10'' touch screen
nice looking ala 1002ha/s101
good keyboard (isolated would be nice)
battery life =>4hours
would pay £450 easily for this. I know its more of an umpc but that is my perfect mobile device.

A DVD drive in a netbook? No, that's just wrong...

Huh, these things are already over the limit; this ain't no netbook /ok, it's a perfect device for someone, but just 2big for me/

I'm thinking more like HP 2140 or EEE S101 (but I'm not sure about the price of this last one - I'd pay more for HP, but Asus isn't at the same level) + I also like EEE 1002HA.

Asus is since aiming the sony vaio market lover and user with similar spec and feature , but with much cheaper price.
is recall me , when asus eeepc was launching , sony is complaining Asus may spoil mini pc market , mean price war on mini pc ( like sony tt , tz , about 1 kg notebook) ..

Liliputing said N280. An Atom with faster FSB (666 Mhz) and small increse clock speed (1,66 Ghz).
It´s that true?
I couldn´t get any information about N280 on Intel´s Site.
If that processor exist, could replace an N270 without (severe) mods?
If that´s correct... please... DO IT!!!!!
Thanks.
Happy New Year!!!!

Meh...

I my honest opinion anything above 10 inches is too big for a UMPC, I think ASUS should aim for smaller form-factors and try to squeeze more tech into less but of course try to keep the price low.

Like the previous comment, a DVD drive on a netbook is so wrong... These "larger" netbooks are just turning into weak smaller laptops.

I'm saving up for the Asus eee pc 900HA, perfect device for mobility. 8.9" screen @ 1024x600, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM (upgradable to 2GB) and all the features you need for a PC-on-the-go. The GMA950 ain't so bad for the odd game or two, I've seen it handle GTA San Andreas very well, which is impressive for a device that's so small.
