Looks awesome, is this going to be available in europe?

mtotho said...

although i suppose the point of a review is to test it out with stock.. everythign, because most users dont switch from that.. but i think it would be very nice without the bloatware, and maybe even in windows xp

JKK said...

I will test it with XP too...

I hope my Kohjinsha SX will arrive next week!! Now it is in custom in France (ordered over dfj-store)!!!!!

I love your unboxings JKK. It's like Christmas morning every time. :)

Nice looking machine. Even though I know the specs on it, I'm still always surprised by how small these things are.

Anonymous said...

hehe, better read up on the features list there jkk.

that antenna in the box may well be a external gps antenna. also, now that i think about it, the port you was unable to open (under the left side the screen) is related to the tv antenna you found.

basically the sx3 is a sc3 with a dvd drive so it should have all the same features that chippys sc3 has...

is chippy still in the states btw? and if so, any chance that he will join the chatroom later? hmm, looking a the clock, 21 cet will put put it around 12 in san fran.

Hehe TSO,

It is for tv not gps ;)

Finally, price + tech = Kohjinsha . By far one of the coolest devices out there, actually one of the best if not the best umpc/laptop ever. lol
Jkk have you seen the EEE, you must have left it somewhere......never mind not needed anymore! lol :)

Pctrelos said...

sorry UMTP....

mtotho said...

@pctrelos. While the system was idle, at 90 percent it said 2:40 minutes remaining.. which means doing any normal intensive stuff would make it 2-2.5 hour device. It would be the best netbook if it werent for that fact. Extended 6 cell might make it even bigger and heavier than it is. Other than that, it is beautiful. I would get it if i didnt need 4+ hours easily.

JKK, really like your unboxing videos, gives the viewer a insight into how the device will perform, thank you.

Looking forward this device avaliable in Singapore...

How many grams are the DVD drive and can you take it out to save weight?
On my laptop it saves me 100 grams or so, I think, to put a weightsaver in instead.

Also, the build quality appears to be a lot more like the HP Mininote than the EEE?

Of course some people will prefer low weight to ruggedness, but in a convertible like this, I don't think you can get away with it, at least not for the hinge parts; on my current hp tablet pc, the hinge is so weak I don't feel comfortable poking it with my fingers while in laptop position.

Hi Jkk,
I got one of these last week with 2gb ram and vista ultimate.
I'm having an awful time trying to play dvd's full screen. when going fullscreen the video just jitters, and this is in with the mains plugged, and with the power saving technology setting of graphics turned off.
Please confirm with your testings if video performs for DVD/Hd resolutions.
thanks.

I just bought one for my wife from http://conics.net and Brett over there informed me that it has all XP drivers except for the LAN and the Video Chip!

I really want to convert to XP as first I hate Vista and 2nd it is too heavy!

Please Jkk let us know about that.

Thanks

Direct from japan also have all drivers for XP and can be able to do install on request. Direct from japan is also more cheap.

Direct from japan : www.dfj-store.com

conics.net is cheaper and have lot of options to chose from check it out http://conics.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=298&osCsid=0495a078b735ffbc08254566726fe0d9

the options at conics are just 3 or so and they are useless. and conics is defenitly NOT cheaper if u choose the same configuration. they are about 100€ more expensive. so don't spam around that stupid.

Anonymous said...

may be useless to you so dont stereotype!
those options were very important to me..
it is $1,047.19USD @ conics.net
and $1,099USD @ www.dfj-store.com

dfj-store ships free but it takes ages to get and not secured I would prefer to pay $60 at conics and get it in 3 days!

No one is spaming but you!

@heartbeat: why are you telling this jokes? dfj is cheaper at the device itself with about $80 and ADDITIONAL at shipping ($0 vs. $60). with the completely equal configuration.

the screens:
$1192 @ conics: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6753/conicssu8.jpg
$1109 @ dfj: http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/331/dfjjx1.jpg

everybody can calculate for thereself. lol

Anonymous said...

Hello.
Direct from japan ship EXACTLY same like conics, with EMS and FULL INSSURANCE. Direct from japan have almost everytime computer in stock. About the accessories, direct from japan is ALSO more cheap (memory, battery, etc).

For sure, @heartbeat look like conics who only try to spam in direct from japan topic.

"dfj-store ships free but it takes ages to get and not secured I would prefer to pay $60 at conics and get it in 3 days!"

order one from conics in past, and i have to send severals email for get a reply. and i never receive my order in 3 days. that a JOKE !

in futur, i will order from direct from japan for sure.

Anonymous said...

you guys are all the joke!! i am just a customer who already tried conics and i know what i am talking about. You guys are the owners of dfj-store and your opinion doesnt count. So stop using Anonymous posts! Right Anthony?

Anonymous said...

$1054 @ conics .. i made a typo mistake when i mentioned $1192 above. go to site and check yourself

Anonymous said...

OK didnt notice the 3 years warranty given by dfj-store vs 1 year warranty by conics.net this makes an exra $137 if u want to order 3 year waranty from conics.net

I appologize. dfj-store IS CHEAPER !

so... jkk... when is the full review coming? I'm keen to hear your thoughts...

I thought you mentioned friday was the day but doesn't seem to be. (saturday it is)

hanging out for it.... it hurts.. :)

love ur blog.

JKK said...

review will be ready next week..

.. i want to actually use devices before doing it to really know how it is.

Anonymous said...

please remember trying XP on this device. :)

So just my 2 cents but I ordered from conics last year received my sh6 within 5 days.. ordered my SX3 over 2 weeks ago with DFJ still have not received. Though I do have a tracking number as of yesterday... Brett from conics always answered my emails within 24 hours so did DFJ though they are not as polite and never sign a name.

Though slightly cheaper conics seem faster and more buyer friendly... Had a bad power cable after 9 months with conics and they were very helpful...

So to me it comes down to speed and customer relations, i know who I will choose next time regardless of a slight extra cost, customer service for me goes a long way...

Anonymous said...

Whoops that should read;

"Though slightly more expensive conics seem..."

Okay when DFJ offered to ship to a different address as it was taking so long to ship I said yes and gave them a new address. Well I just learned today that they shipped to my old address anyway, causing a huge headache... Thanks DFJ...

Anonymous said...

where is the review jkk? :)

Kevin said...

Regarding DFJ shipping to an incorrect address, that's what they say happened to delay my order as well.

Can I pick up an SX3 in Singapore and have the language switched to English?

Is there something special these resellers do when they install Vista Ultimate?
